Class Assembly

Primary 4B were responsible for the school assembly this week, which we did just this afternoon!  We decided to talk about RESPECT and how important this is, and how we can show respect for others.  Some of the suggestions we made for showing respect were:

* Saying hello to someone when they come into the room;
* Holding a door open for someone else;
* Speaking kindly and politely to others when we are in the playground or in the classroom;
* Listening to others when they are talking to show them we are interested in what they are saying;
* Remembering to say please and thank you;

and most importantly

REMEMBERING TO TREAT OTHERS IN THE SAME WAY THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED.

Thank goodness Mr Happy was able to teach Mr Rude some respect and some manners!  Well done Primary 4B - Ms Rendall is very proud of you!

Grace, Hannah and Annelie did an amazing job of playing Twinkle, twinkle little star - which they chose especially because they knew the Nursery children were coming along.

Emily had the important job of making sure everyone could hear what was being said, so she had a little bell that she had to ring if she couldn't hear what we were saying!

Problem solving

Primary 4B have been working on their problem solving skills this term.  Today we were looking at the skills of drawing a diagram / picture, acting a situation out and using materials.

We were working in pairs, and each pair were given  a grid which showed Nutty the squirrel on one side of the grid and his home on the opposite side of the grid.  Our challenge was to make up a route for Nutty to follow to get home, and write directions for this.  We then got together with another pair and had to explain our route home to the other pair.  If their route matched our route then we had given nice clear directions!  If this didn't happen, we needed to look at our directions again and improve them.

We had a few problems when sharing our directions with others - this included:

* giving the directions to others too quickly;
* getting mixed up with our left and right turns;
* getting very confused by having too many directions;
* having directions which were very complicated.

We discovered that if we used a small teddy to sit on the grid that this helped us think better about the way we had to turn.  It was tricky but made our brains work hard!

Challenger Bus

Primary 4 had a treat last week when the Challenger Bus visited.  We were able to visit the bus where we sang some songs, listened to a lovely story and then had a quiz.  It was lots of fun!

Lidl bus visit

We had an AMAZING time on the Lidl health bus last week!  The class were split into two groups - one group went onto the bus and made smoothies while the other group played games outside.  After half an hour we changed over and did the other activity.  It was a lot of fun and everyone got a bottle for making their own smoothies in so this was great!

Please have a look at our photos to see us in action making our healthy fruit smoothies!
