Primary 4B joined with Primary 5 to have our Christmas party together. We had lots of fun - dancing strip the willow, playing games and having ice cream and juice! We all needed some refreshments after all the dancing!

Winter wonderland
Everyone in class has been working really hard to learn to play some Christmas music, which they played for Ms Rendall today. Well done Primary 4 Bumblebees - it was fantastic!
Primaries 1-3 Christmas Show
We all had a fantastic treat on Tuesday morning when Primaries 1-3 let us watch their Christmas show. It was so much fun and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We took some photos, and with permission from Primaries 1-3, we thought we would put them on our blog page (we had to wait until after both performances were over so we didn't spoil any surprises for mums and dads!).
Well done Primaries 1-3!
If you click on the link below you will be able to see them in action!
Christmas lunch
The kitchen staff did us proud today and made the most amazing lunch EVER - thank you very much! We tried to get a photo of everyone who was in the hall for the second sitting of lunch today so have a peek at our slideshow and see if you can spot yourself!
Elf on the shelf update!
Holly, the Elf on the shelf, was a little late this morning. She left a magical note which said she was going to be late because she was busy at the North Pole (we think the note was magical because it disappeared after Ms Rendall found it). Holly did make it to school just before lunch time and enjoyed watching the class from up high today.
I wonder where she will turn up tomorrow?

Holly - our 'Elf on the shelf'
As promised, this is an update of the elf's movements today! Having done some research online Ms Rendall discovered that if an elf turns up in your home (or classroom) you have to adopt it and give it a name. We discovered the elf was a girl, so we have decided to call her Holly.
Sure enough, each time we left the classroom Holly found somewhere else to sit. Ms Rendall thinks she is moving around to make sure she gets a good view of what's going on in class - I wonder what she will report back to Santa when she returns to the North Pole tonight?

She started off on top of the blackboard.
After watching the Christmas show we came back to find she was on the shelf with the books.
After playtime she was watching us from the window.
After our lunch she had found her way to the top of the Christmas tree - and it can't have been Ms Rendall who moved her because Ms Rendall was in the dinner hall and the classroom door was locked. It must be .... magic!
Keep watching to find out what happens tomorrow!

Constellations
As part of our space project, we have been working in groups to find out about constellations and what they are. We are making a poster to show what we have found out and each group is going to make a presentation to the rest of the class tomorrow. We will post the videos of our presentations when we have done them!
Visitor to Primary 4B
Well, Primary 4B got a BIG surprise this morning when they came in to find an elf on the shelf! He is sitting on top of the blackboard watching us all - we are very excited! We are wondering if he will move when we leave the classroom? We will keep you posted!
Christmas is coming!

What do you think?
This is just a little reminder to ask if you can let us know what you think about what we put on our blog page. One really simple option is to use the little tick boxes at the bottom of each post which you can select to show if you thought it was interesting, tricky, fun etc. You can also leave us comments which would also be great and we will even try to reply! If there is something you would like to know about, which isn't being added to the blog page, please let us know this too.
We will look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Thank you.
Holm Carol Service
St Andrews School had a lovely evening on Sunday in Holm, taking part in the Carol Service. We know Primary 4B weren't taking part but we thought the singing etc was so good that we needed to share it with everyone! Apologies about the quality of the photos and videos but Ms Rendall forgot her camera so was using her phone to record it! You will find the link to the videos at the very bottom of this page (apart from Primary 6 which was really shocking quality so Ms Rendall has put the mp3 file on here instead so you can hear them at least as it was done beautifully!).

Miss Coltherd and Primary 3 did St Andrews School proud this year with their organisation of all the activities for Children in Need Day. Everyone had a lovely day and had loads of fun. Thank you Miss Coltherd and Primary 3!
Altogether St Andrews School raised £741 . 60.

Pudsey visit!
Everyone at St Andrews School were very excited this morning when Pudsey came to visit! He managed to go around all the classes and say hello, which was great. He also let us get our photo taken with him which was fab!! (the photos all look similar but Ms Rendall thought it would be good to put them all up just incase there was one that looked better for some children!).
Remember it is only a week until Children in Need - next Friday we will be having lots of fun again in class!

Drama performances
We worked hard in Drama with Miss Linklater last term. We performed our mime before the holidays and it was recorded so we could watch ourselves and think about how well we did (sorry for being late in getting them on the blog page but Ms Rendall couldn't get it to work!)
If you click on the link below you should be able to see our videos! (if not please leave a message and let us know)
Rubgy training
Primary 4 started their tag-rugby block this week. It was a lot of fun and it didn't rain! We are going to try to work on building up a team ethos and including everyone when playing our games. We are also going to focus on the fun we can have rather than winning, as this isn't the point of our rugby sessions.

Measurement
We have been busy in class this week learning about the importance of being able to measure things accurately. We also learned that it is important to have a 'standard unit of measurement', which just means that we have to use a measurement which is the same for everyone - this ensures that measurements are accurate and don't change depending on who is doing the measuring. We have been using metre sticks to measure different objects around the school. We even measured Mr Taylor!
